Casa Berardi :: 683

One of the oldest buildings in the inland of Ortona contrada Alboreto. It is one of the symbols of the battle fought for the liberation of the city. Chosen as the bulwark of the German defence system, it was captured by the Canadian troops under the command of Captain Paul Triquet with the sacrifice of many soldiers. Of the 81 soldiers who started the attack only 9 reached the aim. It was declared as historical site by the Ministry of Culture in 2014.
